Princess Beatrice gave birth to a healthy baby girl over the weekend. But royal fans have been left confused as to why this royal baby will be given a royal title, while other great-grandchildren of the Queen have been bypassed.

       Buckingham Palace announced the new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents are said to be “delighted with the news.”

       Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelil Mozzi have yet to reveal their baby’s name.

       But we do know that their child will have a royal title.

       The official title “Nobile Donna” will be bestowed on their daughter.

       The Italian title translates to Noble Woman in English.

       The title doesn’t come from Princess Beatrice’s side of the family, as it is not a title from the British Royal Family.

       Instead “Nobile Donna” comes from Edoardo Mapelil Mozzi’s father’s family.

       Mr Mapelli Mozzi comes from an aristocratic family just like Princess Beatrice.

       Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s father, Alessandro Mapelli-Mozzi, is an Italian Count.

       The Mapelil Mozzi family was part of the Italian nobility before the country became a republic in 1946.

       This means Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelil Mozzi’s daughter will inherit this Italian royal title.

       This explains why Princess Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, will not have any royal title’s to pass on to her son August.

       Although Princess Beatrice’s daughter will officially be given this title, it is unlikely she will use it in everyday life.

       Her grandfather, Alessandro Mapelli-Mozzi, who could call himself a Count, has not used his title.

       Princess Beatrice’s daughter is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild.

       This currently makes her 11th in line to the throne.

       Only the Queen’s children and grandchildren through the male line are entitled to have the royal titles of Prince and Princess.

       This explains why Princess Beatrice cannot pass on a title to her daughter.

       This precedent was set more than 100 years ago, as it dates back to the reign of King George V.

       As the Queen’s great-granddaughter, Princess Beatrice’s is not entitled to a royal title from the Queen.
