D.C. police have identified a 37-year-old woman as the victim of a fatal shooting Tuesday in Southeast Washington, officials said.

       Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue just after noon on Tuesday when investigators found the woman suffering from gunshot wounds, police officials said in a statement. Medics took the woman to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

       Officials identified the victim as Nikia Young of Southeast Washington.
