LANGKAWI: Kedah Mentri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor says he has not received the compound notice from the police yet for violating standard operating procedure (SOP) when visiting a car showroom in Juru.

"I haven't received any compound notice yet. I will pay once I get it," he said.

Muhammad Sanusi, who is on a working visit to Langkawi, was responding to reports that police had received instruction from the state public prosecutor's office to issue the compound notice.

The investigation was conducted in accordance with Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Infectious Areas) Regulations 2021.

Under Section 269, the offence is punishable with a jail term of up to six months, or a fine, or both.

Social media was abuzz after photos and videos went viral, which showed an individual believed to be Muhammad Sanusi test-driving a car on June 5 while the country was under lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19.
