Zara Tindall, then known as Zara Phillips, made headlines after she returned from travelling in 2000 and hosted an Ann Summers lingerie party at Gatcombe Park. According to press reports, Princess Anne's daughter had invited 25 female friends round to sip champagne whilst being served by a waiter in a PVC G-string.

Speaking to the documentary 'Zara and Anne: Like Mother like Daughter', royal expert Katie Nicholls said the equestrian star was "perhaps not wanting to conform the way people might expect her to as a member of the Royal Family, but nonetheless, having plenty of fun.

Her official biographer Brian Hoey said: "She was pushing the boundaries for a young member of the Royal Family in those days."

Before her marriage to rugby player Mike Tindall, Zara was seen as a royal wild child by the press.

She had similarly hit headlines in 1998 after arriving at Prince Charles's 50th birthday at Highgrove sporting a flashy tongue piercing.

Her raunchy Ann Summers party at the royal residence had followed public criticism of her and brother Peter Phillips' boozy appearance at the Gatcombe Park horse trials in 1999.

Between 2000 and 2003, Zara was in a tumultuous relationship with jockey Richard Johnson which was highly publicised in the press.

The paparazzi caught the young equestrian star in a verbal and physical confrontation with her then-boyfriend outside the home of fellow jockey Warren Marston.

The confrontation had allegedly occurred after Warren's girlfriend had accused the Queen's granddaughter of flirting with her partner.

In August 2003, her relationship with Johnson came to an end and she was reportedly devastated after he cashed in on their personal history by writing a tell-all autobiography.

However, Zara met her future husband in November 2003, after they were introduced following England's Rugby World Cup win against Australia.

The successful England player had been part of the national team to win the trophy.

Their relationship progressed and eventually, Mike Tindall moved into Princess Anne's estate to live with Zara.

After becoming engaged in 2010, the couple were married at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh on July 30, 2011.

They have since welcomed three children, Mia Grace, 6, Lena Elizabeth, 3, and Lucas Philip, who was born in March 2021.

Zara Tindall has also become a decorated equestrian, winning a silver medal with the eventing team at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

She has followed in the footsteps of her mother, Princess Anne, who also participated in the 3-day eventing team competition at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
