LAKKI MARWAT: Security forces repulsed a militant attack on an army checkpost in Janikhel town of Bannu district on Tuesday night.

       Official sources said unknown militants attacked the post with heavy weapons, prompting the soldiers to retaliate.

       They said a fierce gun battle ensured and sounds of explosions were heard in the area. The gunfight continued for some time and the security forces foiled the terror attack gallantly, forcing the assailants to flee. They said the soldiers remained unhurt in the attack.

       The security forces launched a search for the attackers later.
