JOHOR BARU: A 43-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he was run over by a lorry at the Pasir Gudang Highway.

       Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred at KM14.7 of the highway around 10.10am on Thursday (Feb 17).

       He said the victim was believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before hitting a vehicle in front of him.

       “As a result, he fell off the machine before an oncoming lorry ran over him.

       “The victim was pronounced dead at the site by medical officers,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 17).

       Supt Mohd Sohaimi said the case would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act for reckless driving.

       Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Saiful Bahari Mahpop said seven firemen in one fire engine were deployed to the scene after they received a distress call.

       “The remains of the victim have been handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
