ISKANDAR PUTERI: A single-storey terrace house was spared from a fire in the nick of time when a housewife smelled something burning coming from her neighbour’s house.
Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Khairi Zainudin said the neighbour was cooking something on the stove and had left it unattended.
“She was peeling onions in the living area and forgot that she had left something in the pot on the stove with the fire on," he said when contacted on Tuesday (March 29).
Mohd Khairi said the station received an emergency call at around 3.42pm on Tuesday alerting it to the incident at Jalan Gelang Emas 3, Taman Gelang Patah near here.
He said 11 firefighters together with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle and a utility vehicle from the station were deployed to the scene.
“The kitchen was spared from the fire except for the black marks on the ceiling and walls due to the smoke," Mohd Khairi said.
He said the operation ended at around 4.03pm and the case was still under investigation to determine the cause of the fire and losses.
