KOTA KINABALU: The ongoing water supply disruptions in Sabah have reached crisis level, says Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic).

“Our water supply disruption has become a major crisis and we are now making a proposal to the state Cabinet to help overcome the problem and ensure that consumers will be able to enjoy clean water supply," he said.

The state Works Minister said he has been receiving complaints from many people.

"There is no water in Sandakan, in Kota Kinabalu. There is no water in the villages, and even my house does not have water.

"This is a crisis that needs to be addressed quickly,” he told reporters at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Kinabatangan on Sunday (May 22).

Bung Moktar said short- and long-term plans were being drawn up to address the water supply disruptions across the state.

He added that the proposal would be submitted to the state Cabinet in the near future.

“I will submit several proposals to the Sabah Cabinet to decide because it is important for us to determine the direction of water in this state," he said.

"We need to overcome the water issue comprehensively as short-term plans do not completely resolve it," he added.
