WATERTOWN, New York: A Watertown man was arrested and charged on Feb 29 for child pornography and secretly using a camera in a wall outlet to surveil a home, troopers say.

Nicholas O. Sherwood, 46, was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, promoting the sexual performance of a child, and second degree unlawful surveillance, said Trooper Jack Keller, a spokesperson for the New York State Police. The charges are all felonies.

An Internet Crimes Against Children task force search warrant led authorities to Sherwood’s home at 228 Ten Eyck St. in Watertown, Keller said. The warrant was related to the transferring of child sexual exploitation material online, he said.

Investigators found Sherwood had placed a hidden camera in a wall outlet at another home in Jefferson County, Keller said.

Keller said investigators believe Sherwood, who works as a property manager, may have had access to other homes in the area. Sherwood is a level one sex offender, according to Keller. – syracuse.com/Tribune News Service
