PETALING JAYA: A police investigation into the Quinpay online payment platform did not reveal any criminal element, says the Home Ministry.

The Ministry said the police have received eight reports about Quinpay involving RM157,235.88 since January this year.

"Investigation papers were not opened as there were no elements of deception or fraud. The police reports made were due to user dissatisfaction towards policy changes made by QuinReward," it said in a written reply in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (March 21).

It said that users have to open an account and top it up with money that is then converted into reward points that can be used to purchase items or to pay stores registered with the platform.

"Consumers are urged to be alert and as well as to review the terms and conditions of any online service or application," it said.

The Ministry said if consumers have any doubts towards an online platform, there are various facilities that can be used to validate it before making a transaction such as the Cyber Crime Alert Royal Malaysia Police Facebook page, the http://ccid.rmp.gov.my/semakmule portal and others.
