IPOH: A two-year-old boy drowned in a lake inside the compound of a university in Seri Iskandar on Saturday.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the family of the boy had stopped at the university to perform prayers at the mosque inside the premises.
He said the lake was located close to the mosque.
“We received a distress call at about 1.20pm.
“From the information gathered from the family, and from the CCTV footage, it only showed the little boy next to the lake.
“A search was conducted at the surrounding area, before getting a boat from the Parit fire station, and a water rescue team from the Ipoh station.
“When the team arrived and got permission to dive, they found the boy’s body 3m from the riverbank.

“The victim was then handed over to the police for further investigation,” he added.
