Steven Pearlstein’s outstanding July 9 Opinions Essay, “The inside story of how Congress failed to rein in Big Tech,” simultaneously educated and depressed me.

The depression came from seeing just how dysfunctional Congress has become and how the once-vaunted committee system is now nothing more than sound and fury, signifying the nothingness. The education came from how I will be contributing to congressional and Senate candidates in the future, which is to say that I will never make another contribution to a candidate running for the House or Senate.
