PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak (pic) hopes that the newly-formed Cabinet will be result- and achievement-oriented.
The former prime minister said that he noticed that many people were disappointed with the new Cabinet line-up, as most ministers and deputy ministers were the same and it looked like a "recycled cabinet".
"However, I understand why PM9 (ninth prime minister) and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong made these choices. This is to avoid major changes during this critical period," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Aug 27).
Four ministers from Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's cabinet were dropped from Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's line-up.
Najib, the Pekan MP, listed down a total of 11 ministries with changes in leadership.
Among them are the Foreign Ministry, Health Ministry, Defence and Youth and Sports Ministry.
"However, I believe that the National Security Council's policy to curb the Covid-19 pandemic will change as its head has been replaced.
"And if anyone still wants to use the 'back door', the new NSC head has the right and authority on the final decision on policy implementation and may block it," said Najib.
He noted that the Prime Minister had warned that non-performing ministers would be dropped if they fail to meet their performance targets within a 100-day period.
"InsyaAllah, I will help as much as possible in the effort to revive the country in terms of the Covid-19 pandemic, economy and well-being of the people. Happy working. The countdown to 100 days begins today," said Najib.
