Royal commentators Katie Nicholl and Emma Jones discussed the competition between the Cambridges and Sussexes during ITV's documentary 'Harry and William What went wrong?'. Ms Jones stated that Kate and Prince William have learnt lessons from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry regarding their online presence.

       Ms Nicholl said: "They were called upon by the Queen to step up to the plate, to become high-profile to become frontline royals during a global pandemic.

       "They were seen to be doing enormously important work and proved to be very popular.

       "William and Kate had no option but to turn things around and really inject some rocket fuel into this because if they did not then there was the real risk that they really would be overshadowed by Harry and Meghan across the pond."

       Ms Jones added regarding the Cambridge's social media presence: "All of this stuff is quite heavily staged managed and not looks like a John Lewis advert.

       "But they are having a go.

       "Ironically they have sort of taken the lessons from Meghan and Harry and are trying to do it themselves."

       Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married in May 2018.

       The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from the Royal Family in March 2020.

       During the same ITV documentary, the Royal Family was mocked over missing out on an "incredible opportunity" to make the monarchy "relevant in the 21st century" by a royal commentator.

       Broadcaster and women's rights activist Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu told ITV that Meghan Markle's departure from the Royal Family was a missed opportunity for the institution.

       The royal commentator also hailed the Duchess of Sussex as an incredibly powerful woman.

       Dr Shola said: "This is a missed opportunity.

       "It is such a missed opportunity, my goodness.

       "How can anybody not see the incredibly powerful, independent, badass woman that Meghan Markle is?

       "And not see that as an incredible opportunity for the Royal Family to be relevant in the 21st century."
