KUCHING: The Election Commission (EC) will meet here on Nov 24 to discuss the date of the Sarawak state election.

       EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak said the special meeting will be led by its chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh.

       "(The meeting) will discuss important dates such as nomination and polling days, the electoral roll and other preparations (for) the state election," he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 12).

       He added that a press conference is scheduled to be held immediately after the meeting.

       The meeting follows polling day for the Melaka state election on Nov 20.

       The Sarawak Legislative Assembly was dissolved on Nov 3 following the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's consent to lift the statewide Emergency on the same day, paving the way for the state election to be held within 60 days.
