KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Covid-19 daily cases seem to be on a downward trend although there was a spike in infections in the popular holiday destination of Ranau district, the home of Mount Kinabalu.
The state registered 108 new cases yesterday, the lowest in the past eight months, said state Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
However, he said Ranau district recorded the highest number of new cases with 26, followed by the neighbouring districts of Tuaran (16 cases), Kota Kinabalu (14) and Penampang (10).
And with people heading to Kundasang in Ranau for their year-end holiday, Masidi reminded them to adhere to the standard operating procedure.
“We can’t stop people from having their holidays. We can only advise them to observe the SOP and other health safety guidelines,” he said when asked about concerns over the large crowds in Kundasang.
Masidi said all other districts recorded single-digit figures while there were no new cases in nine districts.
He said of the 108 new cases, 104 were in Categories 1 and 2.
There were no new clusters, he said, adding that Sabah’s infectivity rate was 0.81.
