Companies requested to renew their files and attach quarterly statistics

KUWAIT CITY, March 9: The Occupational Safety Center at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is on the verge of carrying out an extensive inventory on the files of the companies that do not comply with the requirements and regulations for providing insurance for occupation-related injuries and accidents and for paying compensation to the victims if such situations occur, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to informed sources, PAM’s center requested companies to renew their files and attach the quarterly statistics (of every three months) along with signature approval, an insurance policy, and a list of occupational accidents and injuries if they occur.

The purpose of the statistics is to inspect the extent of the companies’ commitment to providing an actual occupational insurance policy that authorizes the obtaining and paying of compensations to the workers and providing the necessary treatments for them in the event of injuries to them.

Regarding the workers’ financial rights, the sources explained that the authority will soon announce the “salary certificate” mechanism that companies must follow for the renewal of work permits, transfers and cancellation procedures. Their requests were suspended during the heights of the COVID-19 crisis, and companies had to sign only pledges to preserve financial rights for workers.

PAM’s Inspection Department will proceed, using its automated system, to verify the attached salary certificates. In the event of any infringements monitored on the labor right items, the file will be suspended immediately, and legal measures will be taken against violators, especially since pledges were made by companies to grant financial rights and vacations to workers registered on their files. In another context, the sources said that the tripartite committee continues to track violations in the labor market, indicating that campaigns against delivery workers will be intensified in the coming period.

They revealed that there are many violators caught in daily campaigns, through the committee or with the cooperation of the General Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior, which issues citations against them and transfers them to the committee to complete the procedures if there are other violations related to their legal status.

The sources said the inspectors of the tripartite committee, with the cooperation of the Residency Affairs Investigations Department, are closely following up on domestic workers who are working in violation of the law, under the cover of fake offices on the Internet, adding that they are being monitored, tracked, seized and referred for deportation.
