A man riding on a northbound CTA Red Line train near the Garfield stop in Fuller Park was killed on Thursday afternoon, Chicago police said.
Minutes earlier, four men were injured in another shooting inside a commercial business on Grand Boulevard in the same neighborhood.
At approximately 4:18 p.m., the Red Line victim, whose age has not yet been confirmed, was approached by three unknown male offenders, according to a police notification. One of the men took out a handgun and fired shots.

The man was struck in the arm and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
At approximately 4:09 p.m. in the 300 block of East 47th Street, four men, ages 30, 36, 36 and 60, were injured when two unknown offenders took out handguns and fired shots, according to a police notification.
All of the victims were taken to U. of C. Medical Center.
Three of the men are in good condition. The youngest was in critical condition.
It is not known whether the shootings are related.
No one is in custody in either case. Area 1 detectives are investigating.
