KOTA KINABALU: A man who tried sneaking out of his housing area in Kg Penimbawan, Tuaran near here, which is placed under the enhanced movement control order, was nabbed on Wednesday (June 23).
Apart from that, he was also found in possession of drugs.
In the 5pm incident, the 21-year-old had tried sneaking out using an alternative route near a river in the area, but marine policemen conducting Ops Benteng saw him first.
Marine police commanding officer for Kota Kinabalu Asst Supt Roslan Awang said the suspect was on a boat when they saw him.
“An inspection found that the suspect was actually trying to sneak out,” he said.
He said further inspection led to the discovery of what police believe were syabu worth about RM150, on the man.
ASP Roslan said the suspect was fined RM3,000 for abusing the permit to get out of a lockdown area.
“The drug was seized and he will also be investigated by the narcotics unit on that matter,” he said.
Kg Penimbawan is under the EMCO until June 28.
On other matters, ASP Roslan urged coastal villagers to report any suspicious activities to their WhatsApp number at 013-2831197 to help combat crimes.
