KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating an incident in a viral video clip where a man who is not wearing a face mask is seen using foul language on a stall operator and her customer in Taman Desa here.

Brickfields Deputy OCPD Supt Basri Sagoni said the incident occurred at about 10.30am on Monday (July 19).

"We received a report from a 22-year-old woman after the man allegedly scolded and used foul language on her mother and a customer in front of her stall along Jalan Desa Bakti.

"A video of the incident was recorded by another woman on her mobile phone and shared with the complainant," he said in a statement on Monday.

He said police had classified the case as criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code as well as violating standard operating procedures under Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.

"The public is advised not to make any speculation about the video as it could lead to public anxiety.

"They are also advised to comply with SOPs set by the government," he said, adding that any violation of SOP would lead to stern action under the law.

He also encouraged anyone with information on the case to come forward by contacting the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222, or the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999.
