PETALING JAYA: DAP is ready to work with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to help bring the country out of the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting economic slump.

       Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said that the party is "willing to look to the future", and work with the Prime Minister in facing the pandemic.

       “DAP is willing to look to the future and take the difficult step to work with Ismail Sabri by adopting a National Covid-19 Reset Plan and an RM45bill Economic Turnaround Plan to normalise our country and economy.

       “The National Covid-19 Reset Plan must accelerate vaccination, provide mass test screening (and implement the) Find, Test, Trace, Isolate and Support plus vaccination (FTTIS+V), as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

       "An RM45 billion Economic Turnaround Plan must focus on direct, regular financial aid and injection of funds instead of the orthodox ‘one-off’ approach and indirect assistance of loans and guarantees,” he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 30).

       He also stressed that this did not mean that Pakatan Harapan and DAP were forming a unity government with the Prime Minister.

       “Nothing is further from the truth. DAP will still remain in the Opposition to play our constitutional role as a check and balance on the government," he said.

       He added that the DAP was willing to lend bipartisan support for institutional reforms such as an anti-party-hopping law.
