KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 7,950 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, while there were 10,832 recoveries.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, 7,921 were local and 29 were imported cases.
A total of 133 of these cases were in Categories 3 to 5, while the remaining 7,817 (98.3%) comprised Categories 1 and 2 cases, he said in his daily update.
“A total of 725 cases are being treated in intensive care units,” Dr Noor Hisham added.
He said the 10,832 recoveries recorded yesterday brought the cumulative number of recovery cases since the pandemic began to 2,227,889.
Dr Noor Hisham also said 13 new clusters were recorded yesterday, bringing the total number of active clusters to 762, adding that these new clusters were reported in Selangor, Melaka, Kedah, Sarawak, Pahang and Negri Sembilan.
“Six of these clusters were workplace clusters, while three were community clusters,” he said, adding that there was also one private learning institute cluster and one education cluster.
He said the remaining two clusters reported were a high-risk and a detention centre cluster.
