PETALING JAYA: The number of recoveries from Covid-19 continues to outpace new infections, with no new cluster reported.
On Monday, the number of recoveries was reported at 14,423 while there were 7,140 new cases, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said out of the new cases, 6,876 were local transmissions with 95.9% being Malaysians and 4.1% foreigners.
The number of cumulative cases now stood at 4,396,165.
Dr Noor Hisham said the number of Covid-19 patients requiring ventilator support had also decreased to 68 from 76 patients the day before.
“Of the total new cases, there were 14 cases in both Categories 3 and 4, and 15 cases in Category 5.
“Most of the cases were asymptomatic or with mild symptoms at Categories 1 and 2,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Dr Noor Hisham said no state recorded usage of more than 50% for beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for Covid-19.
Only two states – Putrajaya (51%) and Negri Sembilan (50%) – reported non-ICU bed usage of over 50%.
No states also recorded more than 50% of bed usage at the Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre, he added.
He said no new cluster was recorded although currently, there were 114 active Covid-19 clusters.
The national infectivity rate or Rt is below 1.0, at 0.88.
