KUALA LUMPUR: A group of p-hailing riders have handed a memorandum over lowered delivery charge rates to the Deputy Prime Minister.

Persatuan Penghantar P-Hailing Malaysia deputy president Abdul Hakim Abdul Rani said they hoped that the government would step in to help.

"We want delivery charge rates that were lowered from RM5 to RM4 on Jan 16 to be reinstated.

"The announcement that RM1 will be slashed off current delivery rates within Klang Valley and other major cities is too much," he said when met at Menara Dato Onn here on Friday (Jan 26).

He said their other demands include maintaining the pickup bonus of 60sen for 2km or less and 40 sen for every kilometre after it.

"Everyone keeps saying that this profession has a supply and demand issue where there are too many delivery riders out there. So why do the companies keep registering new riders," he asked.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki received the memorandum on behalf of Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi before attending the Umno supreme council meeting on Friday.
