Barbados has officially become a republic and removed Queen Elizabeth II, 95, as its head of state in an overnight ceremony attended by Prince Charles and Rihanna. A final salute was made to the British monarchy and the Royal Standard flag was lowered and replaced. But the Government came under fire from locals who are demanding a people's vote on the future of their country. One resident told Sky News: "I think there should have been a public vote and I think it should have been decided by the people and not by a few MPs."
