KUWAIT CITY, May 26: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr of the Philippines has stated today that he is against imposing a complete ban on sending Filipino workers to Kuwait, in response to the demands made by some lawmakers in his country. Marcos expressed his reluctance to sever ties, stating that he did not want to “burn any bridges.” He also deemed it inappropriate to “overstate” Kuwait’s recent decision to suspend the issuance of new entry visas to Filipinos. Instead, he emphasized the need for diplomatic negotiations to resolve the issue.

Marcos expressed optimism that Kuwait might reconsider its stance and lift the ban on Filipino workers. He acknowledged that it is Kuwait’s prerogative to set its own rules and regulations, and therefore, the issue remains open for further negotiations. Marcos expressed hope for ongoing discussions and consultations with Kuwait, indicating that circumstances may change, allowing the resumption of sending Filipino workers, particularly those who were previously unable to go there.
