A MUM screamed in horror after cracking a PINK egg into her frying pan.

Beena Sarangdhar couldn't believe her eyes when she spotted the curiously coloured 'white' floating around in front of her.

Her kids rushed into the kitchen to see what the fuss was about and were equally as disgusted at the weirdly fluorescent food.

Beena bought the eggs from her local Asda in Watford, Hertfordshire, and insisted they were still well in date.

But put off by their unusual appearance, she wasn't sure if they were safe to eat.

After posting a picture on a Facebook page she was warned not to touch the eggs and to throw them out immediately.

Beena said: "I fancied some eggs yesterday and cracked one into the frying pan as normal.

"Then as it fell into the pan I screamed. I've never seen a pink egg before.

"The kids came running in to see what had happened and said 'errrr'."

She said the other eggs in the same box were fine.

The mum added: "It was really weird because they were in date.

"It did put me off for a second but after that everyone fancied some eggs on toast."

A cloudy egg white is a sign the egg is very fresh while a clear white is an indication of ageing, according to the US Department of Agriculture.

Experts warn some microorganisms which produce a greenish, fluorescent, water-soluble pigment are harmful to humans and shouldn't be eaten.

This likely includes Beena's out-of-the-ordinary egg.

       'IT WAS HORRIFIC'

Beena's find comes after another shopper made a horrifying discovery in a tin of beans.

Sally Jones said she felt sick after buying beans from Asda that she claimed "looked like a mouse had died" inside.

She said: "I bought the beans just before Christmas, but when I opened them on Saturday I could tell something was wrong immediately.

"As soon as I opened it the smell was like something from beyond the grave.

“It was horrific. Like a mouse had died in that tin."
