KOTA KINABALU: There is no need to panic following the shoot-out off Kunak on Sunday (April 7) morning, says Lahad Datu MP Datuk Yusof Apdal.

He said the people must put their confidence in the security forces and trust that they are doing their best to safeguard Sabah.

He said that various initiatives are in place to enhance and boost security in the state on land and at sea.

Yusof said these operations and security measures will also be in place to make sure that cross-border crimes are foiled.

“We advise the people in Kunak and all of Lahad Datu to remain calm, do not panic and refrain from worrying because our security forces are on standby,” he said in a statement.

He assured that security forces would double their efforts, more so with the shootout which saw two Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) personnel injured.

“The public must also work with security forces and provide useful information that could help solve this case, and to prevent crime,” said Yusof.
