Just hours after Wang Leehom’s (pic) ex-wife accused him of cheating throughout their marriage, the Taiwanese-American singer is estimated to have lost several million dollars in earnings as some major brands dropped him as their celebrity ambassador, reported China Press.
On Dec 18, Japanese luxury car brand Infiniti, mainland China’s Readboy Education technology and Hong Kong jewellery brand Chow Tai Seng issued statements saying that they had cut ties with Wang.
The singer-songwriter’s clothing brand Descendants of the Dragon was reportedly removed from multiple online shopping websites as well.
The commercial backlash against Wang came after his recently-divorced wife Lee Jinglei published a nine-page bombshell on Dec 18 accusing him of various misdeeds throughout their marriage, including multiple infidelities, soliciting prostitutes, being verbally abusive and bullying her.
Fearing that they could be caught up in the Chinese authorities’ crackdown on “misbehaving celebrities”, companies in mainland China were quick to disassociate themselves from Wang.
The 45-year-old’s estimated fee revenue for 2021 of T$210mil (RM31.82mil) is now under threat, with the singer being expected to compensate companies which hired him due to the reputation damage brought about by his cheating scandal.
Wang and Lee were married in 2013 and have three children aged three to seven years old.
> Among the foreign objects that floated into houses inundated by floods in Klang were boxes of vegetables and a softshell turtle, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Amid rising floodwaters in parts of Klang, many Internet users decided to share their predicaments online by posting videos of their homes.
One video showed a softshell turtle swimming in a flooded kitchen, which brought a smile to other Internet users whose houses were also flooded.
The turtle was believed to have originated from a nearby river that had overflowed.
Another Internet user reported that several boxes floated into her housing compound.
She got a pleasant surprise upon opening the boxes as they were filled with vegetables and other produce including corn and carrots.
