PORT DICKSON: A Datuk and another man have surrendered to police after a clip showing them allegedly diverting traffic on a public road here went viral on Sunday (Dec 5).

       Port Dickson police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said the two suspects are aged 45 and 49 and surrendered at the district police station on Monday (Dec 6).

       The Datuk is a businessman while the other suspect is an insurance agent.

       "Police personnel also seized two high-powered motorcycles and other personal belongings they had on when the clip was recorded. "Apart from behaving like traffic marshals, we are also probing the duo for any other offence," he said in a statement.

       On Sunday, Supt Aidi Sham said the two were allegedly part of a convoy which was believed to have travelled from Kuala Sg Baru in Alor Gajah, Melaka and passed through Jalan Tg Agas Pasir Panjang Port Dickson.

       In the clip, an individual can be seen directing traffic to slow down and move to the left lane of the road to allow a convoy of at least 20 motorcycles to pass through the area.

       Supt Aidi Sham said traffic can only be stopped or diverted when a police officer is present.

       On Nov 21, another video went viral, which showed several individuals stopping vehicles at a traffic light junction in the Port Dickson area so a superbike convoy could pass through.

       The traffic light was red when the bikers rode through.

       Five individuals were detained to assist in investigations under Section 21 of the Police Act and Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

       Under Section 21 of the Police Act, offenders can be fined up to RM200 or up to three months' imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.

       Those convicted under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act can be fined up to RM300.
