KOTA KINABALU: More Parti Warisan grassroots leaders and members have left the party following former party vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony’s resignation recently.
Keningau division vice-chief Jickol Tagua, deputy division chief Julimah Anggula and Wirawati chief Fadilla Lasmin, as well as leaders from the Kota Marudu division, have tendered their resignations.
Jickol said the decision was made based on their own choice, not due to pressure from anyone or any party.
“We are doing this in support of Peter’s move to quit Warisan and to form a new party,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 6).
Among those in Kota Marudu who left are information chief Barlus Mangabis, secretary and Matunggong Wira chief Herwin Maranjak, and deputy communications chief Jimis Monunsui, among others.
Earlier, division leaders and members from Tenom and Sepanggar were also reported to have left the party.
This is seen as a boost for Peter, the Melalap assemblyman, who is forming a new Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-friendly party soon.
Apart from Peter, Limbahau assemblyman Datuk Juil Nuatim also quit Warisan the same day on Dec 28.
