Social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) says that it has become a video-first platform following 2023.

According to a blogpost made on its website, X says that its users watch video in eight out of ten sessions on the platform, which has seen a 30% rise in total view counts between 2022 and 2023.

This came alongside the introduction of the platform’s Immersive Video feature, which functions similarly to the vertical video format used on TikTok and YouTube Shorts, during the same period. The platform had also enabled long-form video uploads.

The social media platform also says that the Community Notes feature, a fact-checking and context-providing tool, received over 50 million daily views on average as of last December. The tool has over 320 thousand contributors in 65 countries.

X further details in the blogpost that it plans to launch peer-to-peer payments sometime this year, which it says will unlock “user utility and new opportunities for commerce”.

The platforms also shared plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) with search and advertising on the platform, along with the upcoming “See Dissimilar Posts” feature that will allow users to receive content that better lines up with their interests.
