PETALING JAYA: More than 1,000 reserve candidates will get permanent positions as medical and pharmacy officers.

       The Public Service Department (JPA) had approved the Health Ministry’s request to appoint 1,197 reserve candidates for the positions on Sept 29, 2023 and Jan 3 this year.

       This includes 857 candidates for the posts of medical officers and 340 candidates for pharmacy officers.

       “The appointments are meant to fill the remaining vacancies after the registration of 1,508 reserve candidates involving medical and pharmacy officers during the first phase on Dec 18 last year,” said the Health Ministry in a statement yesterday.

       It said the offer and acceptance of the appointments would be implemented through the Appointment Offer System of JPA (MySTP SPA).

       It will be within 21 days from Dec 29, 2023, for medical officer candidates and Jan 3, 2024, for pharmacy candidates.

       “Like the previous placement process, each candidate had been informed to make placement selections within the e-placement system, which was between Jan 15 and 17,” the ministry said.

       Placement transfer appeals were also during the same period.

       “The final decision will be communicated through the Health Ministry’s career portal on Jan 31,” it said.

       Placements will be confirmed by the state Health Departments from Feb 12 onwards.

       The date of reporting for duties will start on March 4.

       “Candidates who are unable to report for duty on March 4 may apply for a deferment to their new department head,” it said.
