PETALING JAYA: The Public Services Department has approved the permanent appointment of 1,197 reserve candidates to fill up the vacancies for medical and pharmacy officers.

       Among the positions, 857 are medical officers and 340 are pharmacists.

       "The approval is meant to fill up the remaining vacancies after 1,508 reserve candidates reported for work on Dec 18, last year in the first phase of the placement drive," the Health Ministry said in a statement on Monday (Jan 22).

       It said those who received the offer letters had been informed to complete the job acceptance procedure via the Appointment Offer System (MySTP) within 21 days from Dec 29, for medical officers and Jan 3 for pharmacists.

       The candidates are required to choose their placements between Jan 15 and 19. Those who failed to do so will have their appointments cancelled.

       "Appeals for transfer can also be done from Jan 15 to 19, and the decision will be revealed at the Semakan Kerjaya KKM portal on Jan 31," the ministry added.

       It said candidates would be informed of their confirmed placements by the Health Department of the respective states, beginning Feb 12, and they are required to report for work on March 4.

       "Those who are unable to report for duty on this date can apply for a deferment with their new department head," it added.
