A WOMAN claiming to have been bitten by huge rat when she fell in her back garden has been left too frightened to go outside again.

Michelle Dudley, 41, says she was in the yard of her council bungalow in Tipton, Birmingham when she suffered injuries falling to the ground.

Horrifyingly, she alleges she felt a bite on her finger - and spotted a giant rodent.

Michelle, who says she tripped because the garden is built on a slope, was forced to rush to the doctor for a tetanus injection.

She told the Birmingham Mail she had just half-an-hour to decide if she wanted the bungalow in the first place - and wishes she'd spent longer making the choice.

"There's a great big slope in the garden," she said.

"I fell down that and was bitten by a rat.

"I was a bit stunned for a bit and felt this bite on my finger.

"I saw the rat under my neighbour's fence.

"It was all a bit of a shock. I bumped my head on a concrete fence stump in the garden.

"The garden was infested with rats and I've got a phobia of them.

"My dad had to keep coming and moving them from the garden."

       RAT ATTACK

Michelle, who is disabled, has lived in the bungalow for the last four years.

She begged the council to help tidy the garden.

However, officials at the local authority argue they've had no contact from Michelle for almost three years.

A Sandwell Council spokesman said: “The council did receive and respond to requests from this tenant for pest control services in 2019.

"There have been no further requests since then.

“We have carried out some remedial work on the garden, and we will make arrangements to visit the tenant to discuss any outstanding concerns.”

The Sun has approached Sandwell Council for additional comment.
