Boris Johnson does not deserve praise for England not locking down - thank MPs

Matthew from Bolton aimed a blunt dig at Prime Boris Johnson, claiing that the Prime Minister doesn’t deserve English people’s credit for not putting the country into a lockdown.

But he instead believes that the Tory backbenchers are the bona fide unsung heroes that warrant everyone’s plaudits for doing their utmost best to prevent England plunging into yet another national lockdown before the end of the year.

He said they ensured “freedom” wasn’t taken way from Brits at such an exciting time of the year with plenty to celebrate.

Boltonian Matthew hinted that had he not faced so much internal opposition Mr Johnson may have followed the rest of the UK’s strategy by plunging England and the UK into some sort of lockdown following the rapid outbreak of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.

But with Mr Johnson understood to already be on borrowed time as Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party he could not afford yet another further run-in with his Tories, which may have all but spelled the end of his era.

Speaking to presenter Nick De Bois on talkRADIO, Matthew then tore into the media for portraying Mr Johnson as England's Christmas and New Year’s Eve saviour, which he believes the clearly isn't.

He said: “The media misrepresent it again, the vote of decision, the vote not to lockdown.

“It wasn’t Boris’s decision! It was the 101 MPs who prevented Boris from a lockdown, let’s not give credit to Boris when he is not due the credit.

“If he is due to credit I am happy to give him the credit.

“But let’s give the credit to the MPs who stood up for freedom.”

But although he would like Mr Johnson to clear his desk, he doesn’t think that Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary Priti Patel have what it takes to follow in his footsteps, blasting the latter for her inability to tackle knife crime.

“He should have been gone for me months ago.

“But I don’t see anyone in the cabinet.
