The Royal Family are "alarmed" by this week's news that Prince Harry is releasing a tell-all memoir. Royal editor Robert Jobson singled out the Queen and Prince Charles as the two figures who will feel "particularly let down" by the book deal. The surprise memoir deal is worth up to ￡14.6milion after Harry struck an agreement with Penguin/Random House.

       LBC host and Labour MP David Lammy asked Mr Jobson "what the assessment from the royals would be that he has a full book deal".

       Mr Jobson responded: "We will have to wait and see. This opens up a whole can of worms.

       "The Queen and Prince Charles in particular feel a little let down."

       He warned the memoir deal could be the final nail in the coffin for Harry's relationship with his brother Prince William.

       The royal editor explained: "You can imagine it will lead to even more difficulties.

       "There are supposed to be these rifts and feuds going on within the Royal Family, particularly with William at the moment.

       "I can't see these book deals healing any of those rifts anytime soon, and probably never if you think about it.

       "Once you have written it down in black and white it's difficult to step away from that if you're criticising another person or their family.

       "There will be a lot of difficulties here.

       "They have had books they have cooperated with, like Finding Freedom, but the reality is that this is his own memoir and he has to own that, whatever is said."

       According to the press release, the Duke of Sussex will share the "highs and lows" of his life as a royal in his autobiography.

       In a statement announcing the book, Harry said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man, I have become.

       "I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story - the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned - I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

       "I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

       True Royalty TV co-founder and editor in chief Nick Bullen has criticised the timing of the memoir's release.

       He said that “it upset people” for the book to be “coming out in the Queen's Jubilee year, which could be seen as disrespectful".
