KUALA LUMPUR: Synthetic drugs worth more than RM1.52mil were seized after police raided a construction supplies storehouse at Kampung Baru Cheras.
A 36-year-old man is believed to have used the premises to store the drugs as it belonged to his family and had been abandoned for some time.
City deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Yahaya Othman said they raided the place around 4pm on Tuesday following a tip-off.
“We received a tip-off about suspicious activities going on at the premises that was located at a quiet area there.
“When we raided the facility, we found 20.66kg of ketamin, 7.4kg of syabu and 3.3kg of Ecstasy.
“We also arrested the male suspect there,” he said.
Police are now working to establish where the suspect acquired the drugs from.
“Our investigations revealed the drugs were meant for local distribution,” said DCP Yahaya.
In an unrelated case, police crippled a ganja distribution syndicate with a series of raids between Nov 15 and Nov 17 and arrested three suspects in their 30s.
“We first arrested a 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old man at a parking lot along Jalan Sultan Sulaiman, Kampung Baru and seized 22.5kg of ganja and 2,800 Erimin 5 pills.
“We then were led to a condominium in Jalan Tun Razak where we seized RM32,832 cash,” DCP Yahaya told reporters yesterday.
On Nov 17, police arrested a third suspect, aged 30, and seized 780g of ganja and RM128 at a condominium parking lot in Selayang.
“We were then led to an apartment where we seized another 8.22kg of ganja,” he said, adding that they seized 31.51kg of ganja and 2,800 Erimin 5 pills worth RM122,025 and RM31,958.
