Duo who obstructed ambulance charged in court

       KLANG: Two men who had encroached into the path of an ambulance have been charged at the Magistrate’s Court here.

       K. Moganasuntharan, 63, and his son M. Kartik, 20, had allegedly committed the offence at about 2pm in Jalan Tepi Sungai here on March 24.

       The men, who were charged separately before Magistrates Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid and Noorjidah Mohd Jusan respectively, pleaded not guilty.

       Moganasuntharan had ridden a Modenas motorcycle and Kartik had driven a Toyota Hiace van when the duo allegedly committed the offence of reckless riding which could endanger the public.

       They were accused of committing the offence under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 that provides for a jail term of up to five years and a fine of up to RM15,000, upon conviction.

       If found guilty, their licences could also be revoked and the father and son could be banned from having a driving licence for five years.

       Moganasuntharan was also slapped with an additional charge of obstructing the ambulance which was being driven by one Muhammad Nur Aqhari Rosli.

       For the second offence, he was charged under Section 341 of the Penal Code and faces a jail term of one month or a fine of RM1,000 or both, if found guilty.

       The accused were defended by counsel A. Biranta while deputy public prosecutors Nur’Ayuni Jamri and Muhd Hanis Zulkapli prosecuted.
