PETALING JAYA: A woman found out to her horror how her son had become a pornography addict by the age of 12.

       It all began when she caught him indulging in some “sexual activities” on himself.

       Eventually, she found out about his “gaming friend” who had asked him to record himself and send the video via a chat function.

       Her boy, she said, had been playing an online game.

       Apparently, the boy was told that he would lose his gaming account if he refused to record a video of him touching himself.

       Such continuous exposure to sex while he was playing videogames eventually turned him into a porn addict, she said.

       The mother, who declined to be named, said she was stunned.

       “I was so shocked. My reaction, at first, was of course, anger,” she told Majoriti, a Bahasa Malaysia portal.

       She went through her son’s conversation with his friends on the gaming platform, as well as his chat group.

       “After a scolding, we sat down to talk,” she said.

       Her son told her about being compelled to send a nude video of himself or risk having his account blocked.

       “After a few times of doing it (masturbation), he started to enjoy it. A 12-year-old ‘girlfriend’ would tell him ‘okay, I’ll send my video, then you have to do the same thing’.

       “But after a while, the request turned into a threat.

       “If you look at the chatroom in the videogame, they were all discussing porn,” she said, adding that they would share links on how to watch unblocked porn videos, among others.

       The mother, who is a spa owner, said she cried when she found out what her son had been up to.

       She resorted to controlling his mobile phone usage by downloading an app which allowed her to restrict what he could view on the phone.

       “I warned him that if he does it again, he would not be allowed to do anything, including playing football.”

       However, at one point, he needed Internet access to do his homework and she forgot about restricting it later.

       “The next day, when I checked the app, I saw that he had reopened (the pornography site), all linked from the videogame,” the disappointed mother said.
