Susan Radford visited Bridlington in East Yorkshire with her grandchildren at the start of the half-term break as a treat when she made the discovery. Mrs Radford took them to a candy store just by the Promenade Amusement Park and discovered the multicoloured "foot-long" rock sweets shaped like male genitalia.

The sweets were variously titled “Rock C***” and “Big Boy.”

Mrs Radford, from Market Weighton in East Yorkshire, described the sweets as “pornographic”.

She said: "Why should children be getting exposed to that?"

       "They are getting too sensitized”.

"Don't put them on the seafront in a big twirly-coloured rock shop."

After making the discovery, Mrs Radford, who was a nurse for 36 years before working at York Racecourse, said she didn't approach the shop at the time and hasn't found contact details since.

He added: "I was going to tell them off but the girls behind the counter were only about 15 or 16 years old."

The grandma then contacted Trading Standards, the local council, Greg Knight MP's office and police.

She added: “The police got quite shirty and said it isn't against the law, so there's nothing they can do about it.

"My point is that it would not be ok if kids were taken to a pornographic shop where that sort of thing may be expected, so why is it ok to have that in a sweet shop on the seafront?

"When I was young, they'd have been interested, but now it seems anything goes."

Mrs Radford has also contacted a local Anglican church and a rival sweet store in Bridlington to express outrage.

The grandma plans to not visit Bridlington again because of the experience

"I don't want to go there," she told the Hull Daily Mail.

"Don't buy sweets in this Bridlington shop because of what you will be confronted with.

       "I'm not giving up."
