PETALING JAYA: A public auction for some 40 pieces of furniture and household appliances belonging to cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat may have to be held again after the disappearance of the "successful" bidder.

Bidding on Tuesday (Dec 14) started at RM75,000 and the individual made a top bid of RM132,000 for all the items.

Lawyer Nurul Hafidzah Hassan told mStar that the man did not show up after the public bidding, after excusing himself to get a bank draft.

"The bidder said his cash is at home and we asked him to give us a bank draft first and until now, he is still missing.

"It only takes a short time to get a bank draft, we suspect that the bidder is someone close to the famous entrepreneur (Nur Sajat).

"If the bid fails, we will have to organise a public bidding again next week," she said.

Nurul Hafidzah also said the man had yet to sign any contracts and believed that he was sent by other individuals to delay the bidding process.

A total of 39 pieces of furniture and household appliances belonging to cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat at her house in Jalan Polo Kota Damansara were auctioned earlier on Tuesday (Dec 14).

Among the items were sofa sets, dining table sets, bedroom sets, air conditioners, kitchens, washing machines and a grand piano.

This comes after the Shah Alam High Court ordered the seizure of assets belonging to Nur Sajat - whose birth name is Muhammad Sajjad Kamarul Zaman.

All seized assets are to be auctioned off to recover RM200,000 in damages that Nur Sajat had failed to pay to her stockist, OWA Resources Sdn Bhd.

According to lawyer Zeti Zukifili, the bidding process started at around 10.30am on Tuesday (Dec 14).

The bidders had to prepare RM5,000 in cash before they were allowed to enter the two-storey bungalow.

Nur Sajat was now in Australia after being granted asylum there.
