Twitter user @WoodwardSumer shared a charming image of her pup Henry making a new friend and the pair were snapped embracing in the street.

       The sweet image sent people into a meltdown with many exclaiming the picture was “too cute” for words.

       It’s no secret that dogs are inquisitive creatures, and often approach other dogs to say hello when out on a walk, but this takes that sentiment to a whole new adorable level.

       Captioned “Henry met a friend today I can’t cope”, the 24-year-old nurse shared the image with her 1,738 followers but the tweet has since racked up over 115.2k likes, and over 8,000 retweets.

       Many replied to the tweet with snaps of their own dogs who wanted to say “hello” to Henry, with breeds ranging from fellow labradors, shih tzus and catalan sheepdogs featuring in the images shared.

       Others responded to the tweet with snaps of their own dog engaged in a cuddle.

       One picture of two pups hugging was captioned “They're better and trustworthy than we humans”.

       Many simply shared their overwhelming love for the original picture stating “cuteness overload”, “pure love”, “simply beautiful” and “gorgeous”.

       One follower said: “This is the best thing I’ve seen today”.

       Another said: “My day is 100000% better thanks for allowing me to see this”.

       A third agreed with the sentiment stating “Omg this makes me feel a bit better about the state of the world”.

       Many responses called the picture “simply precious” “adorable” or “cutest picture of all time”, whilst another cheekily retorted “I hope they swapped numbers”, and many hoped the dogs could meet up for future playdates due to their clear bond with one another.

       Another claimed the hug might have a deeper meaning saying “these souls are reconnecting from their past life, don’t say I’m wrong”, while another agreed that the cuteness was off the scale saying: “They got to live with each other now I don’t make the rules”.

       Some responses saw people tagging their friends implying that the pups hugging was just like them when they meet up - replies included “wish you hugged me like this” and “why is this you hugging me?”

       Another user thought man’s best friend has learnt by example saying: “I love the idea that they see us hug each other and copy our behaviour!

       One retort to the image simply said: “Dogs...we're not worthy”.
