MUZAFFARGARH: The elder brother of former MNA Jamshed Ahmad Dasti was shot dead by his rivals over a land dispute at Sherabad, Behari Colony on Sunday.

       Mushtaq Ahmad Dasti went to attend a sitting of a panchayat (a jury of elders) at Sherabad when his rivals opened fire on him killing him on the spot. As the word got round, Jamshed Dasti and many other people reached the place, as did police. Dasti reportedly controlled the mob. The body was sent to hospital for postmortem.

       Police registered a case against the suspects and launched an investigation.

       Dasti said his brother was at a meeting of panchayat arranged to solve the land dispute but his rivals shot him and injured another person.

       According to Rescue 1122 officials, they shifted Mushtaq Dasti’s body to hospital for postmortem.
