Powder pups: Dogs transformed into vibrant works of art

Dogs doused in multi-coloured powder have been creating art.

The action-packed images were captured by photographer Uldis Krievs, 29, in fields close to his house in Walcote, Leicestershire, with his wife, Paige, and their dog, Peppa.

Mr Krievs says that he aims to transform the animals into art. "I don't create just a photo of a dog because anyone could do that."

He said: "My wife got a job as a dog trainer and I picked up a camera again, and for about a year or so I just started snapping away at the dogs and it's kind of gone from there, really.

"I knew photography anyway because I did a diploma years ago but then I thought now is the time to actually do something with it."

He admitted the idea behind the image was inspired by another artist's work - but was keen to recreate the snaps with furry friends instead of humans.

Mr Krievs, who works in IT to help fund his photography business, used Holi paint - called gulal or abir - made using natural dyes, which are safe for dogs and humans.
