GEORGE TOWN: Power supply to the Penang Bridge has been restored.
PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) Strategic Stakeholder Engagement head Syed Mohammed ldid said supply was fully restored at 3.19am on Sunday (Oct 3).
"Our investigations revealed a faulty cable at KM138 which caused the power outage on Friday, affecting the electrical supply to the bridge and toll plazas. The cable has been repaired and we have resumed operational normalcy," he said in a statement on Sunday.
He said the safety of highway customers remains a priority and PLUS will do everything necessary to ensure their comfort as they travel.
The power outage at Penang Bridge caused massive traffic congestion up to the Seberang Jaya and Prai Industrial area exits.
The incident which occurred at about 8.30pm on Friday (Oct 1) also affected surrounding areas on the mainland and island.
