       * Tropical storm warning issued for Calvert and St. Mary’s counties *

Our third straight nice day felt the part, although clouds were occasionally numerous. Highs near 80 are as warm as we’ll see for a while. Clouds will be mainly high level through tonight and into Friday. We even occasionally will see some clearer moments, like this evening and into the early night. With a storm gathering to the south set to soak our weekend, take it all in while you can.

Through Tonight: Some could see a colorful sunset with high clouds nearby from a developing offshore storm. It will be pleasant this evening and overnight — lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. Skies will be more clear than not through the evening.

Weekend storm: With tropical storm warnings in effect as close by as the mouth of the Potomac River, a coastal flood watch is now also up for Saturday night along the tidal Potomac and Chesapeake Bay in our area. The storm track should help push water into the bay, causing a surge of water to push high tides as much as two feet higher than normal.

Along with the storm surge and about 1 to 3 inches of rain, winds sustained around 30 mph and frequent gusts near or past 40 mph are possible Saturday afternoon and evening. This may cause isolated to scattered tree damage and some power outages.
