MELAKA: The Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council has temporarily halted its administrative operations until next Wednesday after six of its staff tested positive for Covid-19.
Council president Datuk Shadan Othman said the decision was made after a recommendation from the health authorities.
“We do not want other staff or those visiting to be infected, so we took pre-emptive action to close the administration section.”
He said sanitisation was being carried out at the premises to ensure the office could be reopened as soon as possible.
It was learnt that dozens of council staffers have been placed under quarantine due to close contact.
Shadan said ground operations would continue as usual.
“Work like cleaning, rubbish collection and enforcement will proceed as normal,” he said, adding that those who need to do transactions with the council could use the online platform.
