There are strong differences about the role of the United States, role of Islamism in the region. Middle East is a general crisis which really has no parallel in other parts of the world and has no precedent in the region.

       Since the end of the Cold War Russia has played a very passive role in the region which cannot be compared with that of the United States. Russian support of the Assad government is the first time really you have seen Russia actively opposing the attempt of the United States and its allies to reorder the region. The fact is that the United States is unable to achieve a stable settlement in the Middle East.
