KULAI: A drinking session turned deadly for a Myanmar national when he was allegedly murdered by his own countrymen during a fight inside a dormitory in Taman Scientex Kulai here.

       Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the 25-year-old man’s supervisor received a call from one of the foreign workers staying at the dormitory that a fight had broken out at about 9pm on Sunday.

       “The supervisor went to the dormitory where he found the man’s lifeless body in a seated position and covered with blood. He then lodged a report at the Senai police station.

       “A police team was sent to the scene immediately. We found the body with stab wounds and a knife, which we believe is the murder weapon,” he said here yesterday.

       Initial checks on the victim’s body showed four stab wounds to the chest and ribs.

       The body has been sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for a post-mortem.

       Supt Tok said two raids were carried out in Johor Baru and Melaka on Monday, which led to the arrest of five male Myanmar nationals aged between 20 and 43.

       “We have reasons to believe that the five suspects are involved in the murder as prior to the victim’s death, they had been drinking liquor together and became intoxicated before the fight,” he added.

       All the suspects are being remanded until Jan 2 to facilitate murder investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
